I've had three connected thoughts sort of floating around my head recently. I've talked about how obsessed I've been with Peloton (the app) recently, and that got me interested in revisiting the stock. As part of that, I reread Implied Expectation's (excellent) Peloton write up. This line (you won't share the confidence unless you own […]

Earlier this week, I posted my "state of the markets" for 2021. The summary was that, while I see several pockets of excess / exuberance, I see plenty of dislocations and opportunities. Towards the end of the post, I mentioned that I wanted to spend some time navel-gazing about how I wanted to evolve the Yet […]

I had a lot of interesting conversations about the cable / telecom sector on the heels of my podcast with The Science of Hitting. I wanted to share some of the thoughts coming out of those convos, so I've done so in bullet form below. Honestly, the conversations have been really interesting, so please feel […]

Probably not a sale candidate (yet), but a double or more if and when it happens.
I’ve been debating writing this company up for the premium site for a while. On a risk/reward basis, this company is my favorite idea: it’s in a sector I know and love, it’s a huge beneficiary of COVID / work from home, and I think the stock is screamingly cheap.
However, the company is rather levered, smaller, and has been written up elsewhere a few times, so I’ve been hesitant to put them on the premium blog. However, recent events have changed that: an unlikely potential catalyst has emerged, and if it comes to pass shares could easily more than double in a very short time frame. Given that, I felt it would be a disservice not to write them up.
Plus, I’ve written so many ideas this month I figured you wouldn’t hold it against me if I added one more that had already been written a bit elsewhere!

I spend a lot of time looking at and thinking about the cable / telecom / media sectors, and you can't spend any time on either of those without thinking about / looking at Comcast (CMCSA) given their ownership of Xfinity (the largest cable company in the U.S.) and NBC (one of the largest media […]

Some random thoughts on articles that caught my attention in the last month. Note that I try to write notes on articles immediately after reading them, so there can be a little overlap in themes if an article grabs my attention early in the month and is similar to an article that I like later […]

Below is an excerpt from our H1'19 letter. While the below excerpt is the majority of the letter, we pulled out some sections discussing our returns and portfolio sizing due to #compliance (we did the same for our 2018 annual letter); you can contact my colleague Rob (his email is [email protected]) if you’re interested in seeing […] Posted On May 31, 2019

I generally try not to write updates on ideas (except for Charter (CHTR; disclosure: long); there you get an update basically every quarter!), but I figured an update on my March 2017 post on Craft Brew Alliance (BREW; disclosure: long) was topical because 1) it's March Madness, and they'll be airing some nationwide Kona ads, […]
