I don't have a PTON, but I do not understand why you would not buy a quality road bike like Trek, Specialized, Cannondale etc. and a Kickr trainer and get the best of both worlds. Ride indoors when you want and take your bike off the trainer and ride outdoors too.
I had a similar quality issue with PTON. Paid for a premium tread and came with a missing part. Customer support was helpful: Except they promptly mailed the wrong part. Nice job PTON.
